The short versionWe use the information needed to run your account, show your chosen content, and keep Drishya safe. We do not sell personal information.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to Drishya at drishya.io and to the features available through it. Drishya is responsible for the personal information described here. If you have a privacy question, email privacy@drishya.io.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly and information created while you use the service.

  • Account information: email address, username, display name, biography, region, and sign-in details.
  • Your activity: diary entries, ratings, reviews, watchlists, lists, comments, follows, blocks, privacy settings, and notification choices.
  • Creator activity: creator applications, published essays, and records of unlocked essays or tips.
  • Technical information: device and browser details, IP address, session identifiers, and security or error logs needed to operate and protect Drishya.
  • Payments: transaction status, amount, and purchase type. Payment card details are handled by Stripe.

How we use information

We use personal information to create and secure accounts, provide your diary and social features, apply visibility settings, process purchases, respond to requests, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and comply with legal obligations.

We may use aggregated or de-identified information to understand how Drishya is used and improve the product. This information does not identify you personally.

Visibility and sharing

Your public profile, public posts, and public activity can be viewed by anyone, including people who do not have a Drishya account. Private accounts limit access to activity as described in your settings, while your username and display name remain visible so people can find you.

We share information when you choose to make it visible, when it is necessary to provide a feature you requested, when we use a service provider described below, or when disclosure is required to protect people, enforce our terms, or comply with law.

Service providers

We use specialist providers to run Drishya. They process information only to provide their services to us and under their own terms and privacy commitments.

  • Supabase provides account authentication, database, and storage infrastructure.
  • Stripe processes checkout payments for creator content and tips.
  • Monitoring providers help us detect and diagnose service errors and security issues.
  • Catalog data providers supply film and television information used to power discovery.

Cookies and local storage

Drishya uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, protect your session, remember settings such as theme preference, and keep the service functioning. We do not use advertising cookies or sell personal information for cross-site behavioural advertising.

How long we keep information

We keep account and activity information while your account is active or for as long as needed to provide the service. When you remove content or delete your account, we delete or de-identify associated information within our normal operational cycle, except where a short backup period or legal, fraud-prevention, security, or accounting need requires us to keep it longer.

Your choices and rights

You can update your profile, privacy controls, notification preferences, diary entries, and lists in Settings. You can export your logs and lists as JSON or CSV, block other users, and permanently delete your account from the Advanced section of Settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of your personal information. Contact us to make a request. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Contact and updates

Email privacy@drishya.io for privacy questions or requests. When this policy changes, we will update the effective date on this page and, when appropriate, provide additional notice through Drishya.

A life, remembered in moving pictures.
